Alexis will be giving an introduction of TRE (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises), explain what are neurogenic tremors, how it can be incorporated as an intervention for healing, and how Brainspotting can be easily integrated into a tremoring session. Her talk will cover the benefits of neurogenic tremoring, the stress response, and how trauma and stress negatively impact our body. She will highlight anecdotal examples of how Brainspotting& TRE have been used in her practice, and the benefits of using both modalities for post-pandemic treatment. In addition, she will share ways to incorporate Brainspotting& tremoring into a therapist’s self-maintenance plan to reduce vicarious trauma and pandemic burnout.

Alexis Overstreet, MSW, LCSW, LCAS is the proprietor of Metaspace Counseling, PLLC, a state Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist, Brainspotting Consultant and Certified Practitioner, Internal Family Systems practitioner, and has training in Trauma and Tension Release Exercises – soon to be a Certified Provider.  Her practice and passion is teaching about the healing of trauma from a “bottom up” brain approach, interpersonal neurobiology, and working with brain-body practices to facilitate healing.  She currently works with two distinct populations: women of color who struggle with cultural and transitional traumas, and older adults who are struggling to find purpose in retirement.  She has worked with individuals, families, and groups in community mental health, outpatient clinics, inpatient hospitalization, and case management in the Winston-Salem area.  In addition, she is a practitioner of mindfulness and meditation, hosts half-day silent retreats, and has recently introduced a virtual experiential space to teach and encourage self-regulation skills to therapists and helpers.
